The Grey Zone

The film "The Grey Zone" (2001) tells the story of the Jewish Sonderkommando XII in Auschwitz in October 1944, who were forced to assist in the extermination of fellow Jews in exchange for a few more months of life. The group, led by Sonderkommando leader Simon Schlermer, plots an insurrection with the help of a Hungarian-Jewish doctor, Miklós Nyiszli (Daniel Benzali), who works for the Nazi doctor, Josef Mengele. A young girl, saved by Hoffman, is hidden by the prisoners, but ultimately discovered and killed by SS-Oberscharführer Eric Muhsfeldt.
