Run Silent, Run Deep

Cmdr. Richardson (Clark Gable) is determined to get revenge on the Japanese destroyer Akikaze, which sunk his previous submarine. He trains his new crew, led by Lt. Jim Bledsoe (Burt Lancaster), to perfect a difficult "bow shot" technique to torpedo the enemy head-on. The film depicts the evolution of their taut and mistrusting relationship as they navigate the dangers of World War II submarine warfare in the Pacific Ocean.
