The Stand In

Drew Barrymore stars as Candy Black, a once-blockbuster comedic star, and Paula, her struggling actress stand-in, in this action-comedy about mistaken identity and celebrity. Candy locks herself up in her mansion for five years, while facing legal issues from her addictions and tax evasion, and asks Paula to attend rehab for her, with Paula agreeing only if Candy resumes acting. As Paula navigates her new life, she steals Candy's identity, career, and boyfriend, Steve, played by Michael Zegen, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings and unexpected romance.
