D.O.A.

Dexter Cornell, an English Professor, becomes embroiled in a series of murders involving people around him, including his own murder, which he initially reports to the police. Told in flashback, the story finds Cornell staggering into a police station, where he recounts the past 36 hours of his life, which includes a pending divorce from his wife Gail, a friendship with student Sydney Fuller, and a confrontation with his colleague Hal Petersham. As Cornell tries to solve the mystery, he reevaluates his life and rekindles a relationship with Sydney, ultimately uncovering the truth behind his own murder.
