In a stark and unflinching portrayal of addiction's devastating grip, "Requiem for a Dream" follows four Coney Island residents as their substance-fueled utopias are shattered by the harsh realities of their dependence. The film is a searing expose of the destructive power of isolation and the false promises of fantasy, as its characters spiral downward into a world of hallucination, tragedy, and ultimate despair.
