Transmorphers

In 2009, a race of aliens piloting giant robots have conquered Earth and forced humanity to live underground, altering the environment to cause constant rainfall and darkness. A small group of human rebels, led by General Van Ryberg, plan to take back their world from the mechanical invaders. After a series of battles, General Van Ryberg and her soldiers reach a terraforming station, while Warren Mitchell, a disgraced soldier, assembles a team to capture a Z-bot, a robot that can reconfigure itself. The team succeeds in capturing the Z-bot, but not before discovering that the robots are actually the aliens piloting them, and that one of the team members, Warren Mitchell, is an android constructed by the aliens. With the help of his team, Mitchell sacrifices himself to take down the control tower, allowing the robots to shut down and humanity to reclaim the surface.
