Each Dawn I Die

In the 1939 film "Each Dawn I Die," a corrupt district attorney, played by James Cagney, frames an investigative reporter, played by the same actor, for manslaughter to silence his criticism. The reporter is sent to prison, where he befriends a notorious gangster, 'Hood' Stacey, played by George Raft, who agrees to help him prove his innocence. The reporter and Stacey concoct a plan to clear the reporter's name, leading to a thrilling prison breakout and the downfall of the corrupt officials responsible for the reporter's wrongful conviction.
