The Journey

Ian Paisley (Timothy Spall) and Martin McGuinness (Colm Meaney), implacable enemies in Northern Ireland, are forced to take a short journey together, taking the biggest leap of faith and changing the course of history. As they travel in a van, they engage in heated arguments and defense of their actions, while the young driver, unaware of MI5's presence, tries to encourage discussion and keep them on track. The van's unexpected detour and mechanical issues lead to a moment of unexpected humanity and understanding between the two men, as they begin to see beyond their differences and consider the possibility of peace.
