Babettes gæstebud

The film "Babettes gæstebud" (1987) tells the story of Babette, a French housekeeper with a mysterious past, who brings quiet revolution to a circle of starkly pious villagers in late 19th century Denmark. Stéphane Audran shines as Babette, a refugee from the destruction of the Paris Commune who wins a lottery and decides to prepare a dinner for the sisters and their small congregation on the occasion of the founding pastor's hundredth birthday.
