Winter Passing

The film follows Reese Holden (Zooey Deschanel), a depressed bartender and actress, as she returns to her childhood home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to retrieve a series of old letters written by her reclusive father, a famous author. There, she finds her father (Ed Harris) living with an ex-grad student, Shelly (Amelia Warner), and a musician, Corbit (Will Ferrell), who has become a surrogate father figure to Reese. As Reese navigates her complicated relationships with her father and the newcomers, she discovers a box of letters that reveal the emotional state of her parents during their marriage and begins to connect with her father on a deeper level.
