Three crooks, including Wallace Beery as Count Donelli/Hawkes, pull off a magnificent crime. As they're forced to hide out together, they slowly begin to distrust each other, amidst a chess-playing automaton that conceals a human expert. The trio, starring Priscilla Dean as Sylvia Donovan and Matt Moore as Dick Longworth, is forced to flee after Hawkes' betrayal, leading to a confrontation that exposes the automaton's true mechanics and the characters' true relationships.
