Denzel Washington stars as Assistant District Attorney Nick Styles, who is terrorized by the criminal he put away years ago, Earl Talbot Blake, played by John Lithgow. Styles, a Los Angeles district attorney, was once a rookie LAPD officer who arrested Blake in 1983 and foiled his plan to kill several drug dealers. Years later, Blake escapes from prison, seeking revenge against Styles, whom he blames for ruining his life.
