Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie), a CIA operative, is accused of being a Russian sleeper spy after a Russian defector, Oleg Vasilyevich Orlov, claims she's working for Russia. As she goes on the run to clear her name, she must use her skills and experience as a covert operative to evade capture, protect her husband Mike Krause (August Diehl), and stay one step ahead of her colleagues at the CIA and Russian agents.
