Rosario Saracini, a judge and chief prosecutor of Siena, receives an old Super 8 film showing Aldo Moro's kidnapping in Rome. He reveals this secret to his colleague Fernanda Doni and bodyguard Branco, and they passionately reconstruct the events with the help of enlarged images that reveal Camillo Guglielmi, a colonel of SISMI. As new investigations unfold, Doni's children disappear, and Saracini is attacked by toxic gas in his car, leading him to suspect Branco of being a traitor.
