Serendipity

In New York City, Jonathan Trager (John Cusack) meets Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale), a British woman, while Christmas shopping at Bloomingdale's, where they both try to buy the same pair of gloves. They develop a mutual attraction despite being in relationships and agree to be reunited through fate's "little signals." Years later, Jonathan, about to marry Halley, and Sara, engaged to a musician, embark on separate journeys to find each other again.
