A young pathology med student suspects that the spirit of a dead cadaver in the hospital morgue where she works is killing off all those who handle or desecrate the body, sparking a gruesome and terrifying chain of events as she delves into the dark history of the cadaver, which turns out to be linked to an Aztec god of sex and death. The film's slow-burning tension and lack of gore have been unfairly dismissed by some, but Jason Todd Ipson's thoughtful and spooky little movie stands apart from the formulas that bind so many horror films. With its real location shooting and genuine autopsy footage, Unrest is a unique and unsettling viewing experience that explores the boundaries between life and death.
