Menocchio the Heretic

In 16th-century Italy, the Church launches the Inquisition in response to Protestant threats, leading to the arrest and trial of miller Domenico Scandella detto Menocchio, played by Marcello Martini. Accused of heresy, Menocchio refuses to betray his principles, despite the pleas of those around him. The story follows his struggle against the oppressive Inquisition, as he stands firm in his convictions and ultimately faces a daunting trial.
