Judas and the Black Messiah tells the true story of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in 1960s Chicago, who is betrayed by FBI informant William O'Neal (played by LaKeith Stanfield). Daniel Kaluuya plays Hampton, a charismatic leader who works to form alliances with rival gangs and militia bands while extending community outreach through the BPP's Free Breakfast for Children Program. As O'Neal rises through the ranks, he begins to relay intelligence to his FBI handler, Roy Mitchell (played by Jesse Plemons), but eventually becomes disillusioned with the Bureau's motives and attempts to quit.
