Kit Kittredge: An American Girl

In 1934, nine-year-old Kit Kittredge (Abigail Breslin) lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, during the Great Depression. When her father loses his business and leaves to find work, Kit's mother takes in a diverse group of boarders, including magician Mr. Berk and dance instructor Miss Dooley. As their mortgage is about to be foreclosed, Kit becomes determined to become a reporter, but when a locked box containing her mother's treasures is stolen, Kit sets out to investigate the theft, clearing the name of Will Shephard, her young hobo friend.
