The Emigrants

In 1844, Karl Oskar (Max von Sydow) and his wife Kristina (Liv Ullmann) struggle to survive on a small farm in rural Sweden amidst poverty, poor weather, and social persecution. As their situation worsens, they decide to emigrate to America, joining a group of fellow Swedes, including Danjel Andreasson's family and a young couple seeking a better life. After a treacherous ocean crossing, the emigrants arrive in Minnesota, only to face new challenges as they settle on fertile farmland tracts near Lake Ki Chi Saga.
