Slums of Beverly Hills

In 1976, 14-year-old Vivian Abromowitz (Natasha Lyonne) struggles to cope while living with her neurotic family of nomads on the outskirts of Beverly Hills. Her father Murray (Alan Arkin) is a divorced 65-year-old who works as an unsuccessful Oldsmobile salesman, and their wealthy uncle Mickey regularly sends them money to help survive. As Vivian navigates her own problems – including her desire for sex, her feelings about family life, and her relationships with her older brother Ben (David Krumholtz) and her adult cousin Rita (Marisa Tomei), who is pregnant and trying to start a new life in nursing school.
