The film follows Chicklet (Lauren Ambrose), a 16-year-old tomboy who struggles to fit in with the Malibu beach surfers. As she begins to display multiple personalities, she becomes the prime suspect in a series of mysterious murders in her beachside town, with Captain Monica Stark (Charles Busch) investigating and suspecting several other characters, including Chicklet's mother, best friend, and love interest.
