Solarbabies

In a post-apocalyptic future where most water has disappeared from Earth, a group of teenagers living in an orphanage, led by Jason (Jason Patric), find unity and purpose playing a hybrid sport of lacrosse and roller-hockey. When they discover a mysterious orb with special powers, called Bodhi, it restores one of their own hearing and gives them abilities such as creating rain indoors. The group escapes from the orphanage on roller skates and embarks on a journey to find a place to live free, pursued by the authorities and aided by an outlaw gang led by Terra's (Jami Gertz) long-lost father, Greentree. Along the way, they break into a high-security facility, recover Bodhi, and ultimately return it to space, restoring water to Earth.
