The Secret Scripture

In this powerful and poignant film, Vanessa Redgrave plays Rose McNulty, a woman confined to a mental hospital for 50 years, where she recounts her life story to a psychiatrist (Eric Bana). Alternating between the early years of World War II and the present day, the film reveals the tumultuous history of Ireland during the 1920s and 30s, as well as Rose's own unfulfilled love affair with Michael McNulty. As she shares her tale, the audience is transported to a world of repressed emotions, forbidden love, and tragic fate, where the lines between reality and fantasy blur.
