Chop Shop

In the gritty underbelly of New York City, a 12-year-old Latino street orphan named Alejandro struggles to make a better life for himself and his 16-year-old sister, Isamar, in an auto-body repair shop amidst chaos and poverty. With his own survival as a top priority, Ale takes on various jobs to support Izzy, from selling candy to train passengers to working at the repair shop itself. But as he navigates this harsh world of adults, Ale's dreams of a better life for himself and Izzy are crushed when he discovers his sister is secretly working as a prostitute, forcing him to confront the darker realities of their existence. In a poignant and powerful climax, Ale finds solace in feeding pigeons to lift his sister's spirits, a small act of hope amidst the desperation that surrounds them.
