Weddings and Babies

"Weddings and Babies" is a 1958 drama film about Al Capetti, played by John Myhers, a New York City wedding photographer struggling to save enough money for an engagement. As he navigates his relationship with Bea, Viveca Lindfors, who wants to get married and have children, Al's priorities clash with his own desires. Meanwhile, his elderly mother, Chiarina Barile, faces her mortality in the cemetery where she visits her late husband. Shot on handheld 35 mm film with synchronized sound, the movie follows Engel's innovative style, which allowed actors to improvise and "catch this, missing that, taking his chances and riding his luck."
