In 1979 Ohio, a group of friends filming a homemade zombie movie witness a devastating train derailment and soon discover that something terrifying has been set loose in their quiet town, leading to unexplained disappearances, strange phenomena, and a growing sense of fear. As they uncover the truth behind the mysterious events, Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney) and his friend Alice Dainard (Elle Fanning) must navigate a complex web of danger and conspiracy, all while trying to save their children from an alien threat that has been awakened by the train crash.
