In 1927, a young Jewish girl named Fegele Abramovich is separated from her father in Soviet Russia and finds herself alone, on the cusp of adulthood. She embarks on a journey to America, where she adopts a new identity as "Susan" and becomes part of a singing dance troupe in Paris. There, she falls deeply in love with Cesar, a Romani horseman from her own community, amidst a backdrop of war, persecution, and loss. Ultimately, Fegele's search for her father leads her to a poignant reunion that brings closure to the past, but also forces her to confront the bittersweet nature of identity, family, and belonging.
