An asteroid the size of Texas is heading towards Earth, threatening to wipe out all life on the planet in 18 days. NASA devises a plan to drill a deep hole into the asteroid and detonate a nuclear bomb to split it into two pieces that will each pass harmlessly around Earth. Enter Harry Stamper and his crew of rough-around-the-edges deep core drillers, who agree to help but only if they can bring their own team along for the ride. The fate of mankind rests on this unlikely group of heroes as they embark on a perilous mission to save the world from destruction.
