Isle of the Dead

On a Greek island during the 1912 war, several people are trapped by quarantine for the plague. A superstitious old peasant suspects a young woman of being a vampiric demon, Gen. Nikolas Pherides (Boris Karloff) vows to kill her if evidence appears that she is one. Thea, a pale and sickly young woman played by Ellen Drew, is accused of being the vorvolaka, or malevolent force in human form, but as the plague spreads and deaths mount, it becomes clear that nothing is certain on the island.
