Le Chat

Jean Gabin as Julien Bouin and Simone Signoret as Clémence Bouin are an estranged couple living in a small house that will soon be demolished. Their relationship has become strained, with Julien's cat Greffier being the only source of affection for him. After Julien goads his wife into ending their conflict, she kills the cat and subsequently dies herself. The film explores themes of love, dependency, and decay, set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing Parisian suburb undergoing demolition.
