"My Dictator" (2014) is a South Korean film directed by Lee Hae-jun, starring Sul Kyung-gu as Sung-geun, an untalented actor who lands the role of Kim Il-sung for a rehearsal of the South-North Korea Summit, and becomes passionately immersed in the character. As Sung-geun's delusion deepens after the summit is cancelled, his son Tae-sik (Park Hae-il) is forced to reconnect with him after Tae-sik gets into trouble with loan sharks in the 1990s. The film explores themes of identity, family, and the complexities of fatherhood, as Sung-geun's character blurs the lines between reality and his portrayal of Kim Il-sung.
