Chinese Portrait

Chinese Portrait is a 2018 documentary film consisting of around 60 portraits shot in video and film, featuring long shots of people standing motionless while life goes on around them. The film showcases different aspects of China, capturing the rapid change in Chinese society through subjects like train passengers, farmers, students, factory workers, tourists, and construction workers in both urban and rural areas. Director Wang Xiaoshuai is frequently seen in the portraits, which have no dialogue.
