Labyrinth of Cinema

In the 2019 Japanese film "Labyrinth of Cinema," three moviegoers, Mario (Takuro Atsuki), Shigeru (Yoshihiko Hosoda), and Hosuke (Takahito Hosoyamada), are transported back in time to classic Japanese war films screening at a local cinema on its final night. There, they become entangled with Noriko (Rei Yoshida), a young schoolgirl who has fallen into the movie screen, as they try to navigate through multiple historical eras, including the Boshin War and World War II. Through their experiences, Obayashi explores themes of cinema, history, and the impact of war on individuals and society.
