Nero's Mistress

Alberto Sordi stars as Nero in this 1956 Italian historical comedy film about a seaside holiday where Nero's plans for a great show are disrupted by his mother Agrippina (Gloria Swanson), who arrives with her German praetorians and demands that Nero conquer Britain. Vittorio De Sica plays Seneca, Nero's advisor, who tries to steer the young emperor away from trouble. Meanwhile, Brigitte Bardot shines as Poppea, a woman who becomes embroiled in Agrippina's schemes. The film was released in Italy in 1956 and in France in 1957, with a US dub released in 1962.
