The Count of Monte Cristo

Jim Caviezel as Edmond Dantes is wrongfully imprisoned, escapes, finds treasure, and reinvents himself as the wealthy Count of Monte Cristo to exact revenge on those who betrayed him. He befriends Abbé Faria (Richard Harris), who shares secrets of an immense treasure with him before dying in a tunnel cave-in. Edmond then encounters pirates, including Jacopo, who swears loyalty to him, and learns about his past from Morrell in Marseille. With the treasure, he establishes himself as the Count of Monte Cristo and orchestrates vengeance on Fernand Mondego (Guy Pearce), Villefort (James Frain), and Danglars, slowly reuniting with his lost love Mercédès Iguanada (Dagmara Dominczyk).
