In the satirical comedy film "Giants and Toys", director Yasuzo Masumura skewers Japan's corporate culture in a cutthroat world of caramel sales. Based on Takeshi Kaikō's story, this 1958 film follows Nishi, an advertising executive who becomes embroiled in a battle for promotional supremacy when his company World hires a working-class girl named Kyoko as its new mascot. As Kyoko's popularity soars, she begins to resist her corporate masters' control, leading to a series of hilarious and chaotic events that expose the absurdities of modern capitalist society.
