Go Tell the Spartans

A unit of American military advisors in Vietnam prior to the major U.S. involvement finds similarities between their helpless struggle against the Viet Cong and the doomed actions of a French unit at the same site a decade before. Based on Daniel Ford's 1967 novel Incident at Muc Wa, the film follows Major Asa Barker and his team as they attempt to reoccupy a deserted hamlet in South Vietnam, only to face a series of brutal and futile attacks from the Viet Cong. The story is marked by moments of horror, tragedy, and antiwar themes, culminating in a tragic confrontation that echoes the infamous Battle of Thermopylae.
