The Double

In a world of sickly yellow fluorescents and impossible architecture, an awkward office drone becomes increasingly unhinged after a charismatic and confident look-alike takes a job at his workplace and seduces the woman he desires, forcing him to confront the dark truth that we all maintain multiple identities, slipping between our work self, social self, and private selves. The film is a visceral reimagining of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella, where logic has left the building and every interaction carries the threat of absurdist cruelty. With its tone that feels equal parts Kafka and Orwell, this is a universe where the boundaries between reality and madness are blurred.
