Watts "Lightbulb" Davies, a 14-year-old go-kart enthusiast, reunites with his estranged father Vic (Randy Quaid), a former kart racing champion, as they work together to build and train Watts for the upcoming IKF Regional Championships. As Watts navigates the world of competitive karting, he faces off against local bully Rodney Wells, while also developing feelings for Dahlia Stone. With Vic's guidance, Watts proves himself to be a natural driver, ultimately competing in a thrilling photo finish against champion Scott McKenna.
