In 1899, Imperial Saint Petersburg transforms into a fairytale-like wonderland as its rivers and canals freeze over. Matvey Polyakov, an 18-year-old ice-skating courier, loses his job after being tardy but finds new opportunities with the Ice Gang, a gang of pickpockets led by "Alex". After a series of daring heists, Matvey meets Alisa Vyazemskaya, the tsarist minister's daughter who seeks to study science and chemistry despite societal expectations. As they navigate their differing social classes, they forge an unlikely bond that sets them on a path towards pursuing their dreams.
