In this unlikely blend of action, comedy, romance, and musical numbers, Brie Larson plays Linda Watt, a brilliant but sheltered scientist sent to India by her CEO to sell genetically modified rice that will destroy the local farmers' livelihoods. As she navigates Indian culture and falls for a local farmer named Rajit (Utkarsh Ambudkar), Linda must confront the consequences of her actions and rally the community against the corrupt corporation behind the deadly rice. With its catchy musical numbers and lively energy, Basmati Blues is a quirky romantic comedy that explores themes of corporate greed, cultural clashes, and the power of community resistance.
