The Mark of Cain

The Mark of Cain is a British television film that follows two young British soldiers, Private Shane Gulliver and Private Mark "Treacle" Tate, as they experience the extremity of war for the first time in Iraq. After their commanding officer's death, the pair are ordered to round up suspects and use torture on detainees, leading to a crisis of conscience when one of the detainees dies under unclear circumstances. As Gulliver struggles to come to terms with what has happened, Tate becomes increasingly withdrawn, culminating in his tragic decision to take his own life.
