The Invention of Lying

In a world where people can only tell the truth, Mark Bellison (Ricky Gervais) invents lying and uses it to get ahead, becoming wealthy from his film's success. He learns that lying can also be used to help others, such as stopping his neighbor Frank Fawcett (Jonah Hill) from committing suicide. Mark soon realizes the truth about Anna McDoogles' (Jennifer Garner) feelings for him and helps her choose between marrying Brad Kessler (Rob Lowe), who is only interested in her wealth and fame, or staying with Mark, whom she truly loves.
