Step by Step

Johnny Christopher (Lawrence Tierney), a Marine sergeant returning from WWII, meets Evelyn Smith (Anne Jeffreys) on the beach in California. As Evelyn works as a secretary to Senator Remmy, they become embroiled in a Nazi plot when Johnny is mistakenly framed for murder after being caught with a list that belonged to Colonel Blackton, a government agent. With their lives in danger, Johnny and Evelyn must stay one step ahead of pursuing Nazis, police, and other enemies, aided by the motel owner Capt. Caleb Simpson, until they clear their names and ultimately find love.
