The Maiden and the Wolves

In a French Alpine town near the Italian border, a pack of slaughtered wolves is delivered to local taxidermist Leon (Patrick Chesnais), who's saved by his young daughter Angele (Laetitia Casta) from being killed with her help releasing a surviving black cub back into the wild. Years later, war and prosperity bring change to the town, as Albert Garcin (Michel Galabru), Angele's godfather and the local foundry owner, becomes rich while Guiseppe (Stefano Accorsi), the son of a gypsy woman who's befriended wolves, guards them in the hills.
