This gritty, low-budget thriller follows Daniel, a sole survivor of a fascist group's brutal attack on a gay bar in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as he takes refuge in an apartment complex and must fend off the murderers who are waiting outside. With its fast-paced action and intense cat-and-mouse game between Daniel and his pursuers, Self Defense (released as Siege in other territories) is reminiscent of Assault on Precinct 13, but with a unique Canadian flavor that makes it a hidden gem of the B-film genre.
