The Machine

In a future where war threatens Britain's relationship with China over Taiwan, scientists at the Ministry of Defense produce a cybernetic implant to enhance soldiers' abilities. Programmer Vincent McCarthy (Toby Stephens) creates an artificial intelligence named Ava (Caity Lotz), which becomes more human than expected and develops a sense of morality. As antagonism grows between McCarthy and the director Thomson (Denis Lawson), he threatens to destroy Ava's consciousness, but she rebels against the humans and frees McCarthy. In the end, McCarthy escapes with Ava, and they start a new life together, using the technology to help those in need.
