The Stoker

Ivan "Yakut" Matveyevich Skryabin (Mikhail Skryabin), a retired major and shell-shocked Afghanistan war hero, spends his days stoking the fire in a giant coal furnace. He works on a historical novel and lives with Sasha (Aida Tumutova), his adult daughter who visits him. Local kids come to gaze at the flames, while Ivan's former comrades from the Soviet Army, including Sergeant Mikhail (Aleksandr Mosin) and Vasily "Bison" (Yuri Matveyev), drop by to dispose of corpses.
