Dead or Alive 1918

The film "Dead or Alive 1918" tells the story of Lieutenant Erik Gunnar Melin's mission to lead a 212-man White Army unit in capturing Näsikallio Palace from the Reds during the Finnish Civil War. The team successfully crosses Tammerkoski, bypasses the Red defenses, and advances on the city, only to be forced back after a night under the ice of Näsijärven. Based on real-life interviews with Melin's soldiers conducted by Konrad Vestlin in 1936-1937, the film is a dramatization of this pivotal moment in Finnish history.
